Environmental Justice
Environmental justice is racial justice. Ward 4 must be a leader in building a sustainable future. I will fight for investments in clean energy, improved public transit, and green spaces that serve our community. By addressing environmental inequities, we can ensure that everyone in our ward enjoys clean air, water, and a healthier environment.
During a near-record heat streak, about 100 inmates of the Stillwater Correctional Facility staged a peaceful protest, and those hundred refused to go back into their cells. People housed in B East expressed their situation of having no clean or cold water, no air conditioning, and whole units being locked down without any time for recreation or showers.

Unicorn Riot
During the September 4th press conference, Marvina expressed how “a lot of inmates come to jail with their natural long dreads and braids. Being in here, they have scalp conditions from washing their hair with the water and consuming the water and it gives them stomach conditions.”
Marvina said inmates have been forced to use socks and t-shirts to filter the water.
“They cannot go another day drinking that water with all of those contaminants in it,” said Haynes. “We want our folks to come home as healthy as they were when they went into Stillwater prison.”
