Vision

1. Building Safe and Thriving Communities

1. Building Safe and Thriving Communities

True public safety is built on trust, prevention, and accountability. I will advocate for community-led safety initiatives that address the root causes of violence—poverty, lack of housing, and limited access to mental health services—while ensuring transparency and accountability in law enforcement. Safety in Ward 4 should mean safety for everyone, regardless of their background.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Advocate for community-led safety initiatives that address root causes of violence, such as poverty, housing instability, and limited access to mental health services.

  • Ensure transparency and accountability in law enforcement to rebuild trust.

  • Expand access to violence prevention programs and crisis response teams.

  • Expanding Access to Affordable Housing

  • Champion policies to increase affordable housing options and protect renters from displacement.

  • Partner with local organizations to provide resources that prevent homelessness.

  • Create pathways to homeownership for historically underserved residents.

  • Partner with neighborhood associations to ensure the community has its needs met

2. Expanding Access to Affordable Housing

Housing is a human right, and too many families in Ward 4 struggle to find stable and affordable homes. I will champion policies to increase affordable housing options, protect renters from displacement, and work with local organizations to prevent homelessness. Our community deserves a future where everyone has a place to call home.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Champion policies to increase affordable housing options and protect renters from displacement.

  • Partner with local organizations to provide resources that prevent homelessness.

  • Create pathways to homeownership for historically underserved residents.

3. Economic Equity and Opportunity

Ward 4 is brimming with untapped potential, and I am committed to unlocking it. This means supporting small businesses, creating pathways to good-paying jobs, and advocating for workforce development programs. I will also ensure that public investments prioritize underrepresented communities, providing resources to uplift historically underserved neighborhoods.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Support small businesses and streamline processes to help them succeed.

  • Advocate for workforce development programs that create pathways to good-paying jobs.

  • Prioritize public investments in historically underserved neighborhoods to uplift communities.

  • Develop year-round paid internship opportunities for youth, providing job training and credit recovery programs.

4. Education and Youth Empowerment

As a mother, I know how critical it is to provide opportunities for our children to thrive. I will advocate for fully funded schools, after-school programs, and creative initiatives that nurture the next generation. Every child in Ward 4 should have access to quality education and safe spaces to grow and explore their potential.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Advocate for fully funded schools to ensure every child receives a quality education.

  • Enhance literacy programs to ensure no child is left behind.

  • Expand after-school and before-school programs to support families and enable career growth.

  • Create high school internship programs to provide career paths for students who choose not to attend college.

  • Develop year-round Step-Up programs to offer employment and educational opportunities for youth.

5. Environmental Justice

Environmental justice is racial justice. Ward 4 must be a leader in building a sustainable future. I will fight for investments in clean energy, improved public transit, and green spaces that serve our community. By addressing environmental inequities, we can ensure that everyone in our ward enjoys clean air, water, and a healthier environment.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Ensure all residents have access to clean air and water.

  • Work with the community to close the HERC incinerator to improve air quality.

  • Promote home energy efficiency programs, including proper insulation, and tie these efforts to youth internship programs for job creation.

  • Expand green spaces and invest in sustainable public transit options to reduce emissions.

6. Justice and Equity for All

My work as the founder of Minnesota Wrongfully Convicted Judicial Reform has shown me how deeply inequities are embedded in our systems. I will continue advocating for reforms that address racial disparities, protect constitutional rights, and empower residents to create the change they want to see. Justice must be the foundation of our policies, not an afterthought. I will continue this fight on the City Council, ensuring that every policy we create is rooted in equity and the needs of those most impacted by systemic injustice.

As your Council Member I will:

  • Continue advocating for reforms that address racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

  • Protect constitutional rights and empower residents to participate in systemic change.

  • Partner with organizations like the Police Department, ACLU, NAACP, Innocence Project, and the Conviction Review Unit to ensure justice and equity for all residents.

  • Fight for policies that center the needs of those most impacted by systemic inequities.
